LARCS Announces Event Calendar for Summer 2021

LARCS Announces Event Calendar for Summer 2021
Patriotic Celebrations Planned; Summer Concert Series is in the Works

As the school year comes to a close, Ladera Ranch families and residents look forward to summertime and many are starting to make plans. Residents are eager to see what the event schedule will look like this year.

The Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) Board of Directors are pleased that things are heading in the right direction with this global pandemic, and as we return to a more familiar sense of normality, we are navigating uncharted territory with our vendors and advisors. We thank our residents for their patience and understanding as we adjust to the newest health and safety guidelines, assess and respond to the current landscape of legal and contractual constraints, and safely transition our events to ones that all residents can enjoy.

This has been an extraordinarily challenging year for our families, residents, staff and board members. We look forward to putting COVID-19 behind us and celebrating the resilience of our community along with our independence as Americans, all while bringing our residents together to promote unity in our community.

The LARCS Board of Directors and Events Planning Committee are proud to announce the following summer event schedule for the community to enjoy over the next several months.

July 4th Celebration Events

Sea to Shining Sea Patriotic Drive-Thru
Greeted by Uncle Sam on stilts, families will journey across the United States visiting community booths and five landmark destinations, including New York, Vegas and more from the comfort of their own vehicle. Registration will be required.

Patriotic Parade
Smokey’s Fire Truck and Hot Rods Unlimited Car Club will cruise through neighborhoods on a pre-determined route. Use the Glympse App to see when the parade will arrive near you in real-time.

Patriotic Home Decorating Contest
Adorn your home with flags, bunting and creative patriotic displays. Residents may use the interactive map on to locate participating homes and vote for their favorites.

Lights of Liberty: A Patriotic Light Show
Join your neighbors for a patriotic light show saluting our military and first responders every evening from May 28 to July 4 at Town Green. The light show will feature patriotic music and will run from dusk to 10:00 p.m. New features will be added to the show on Friday, June 18.

Virtual Freedom Run on the Ranch
This Ladera tradition will be held as a virtual event and will feature a 5K, 100K and a 1K competition for the kids. Ladera Legs in partnership with LARCS encourages all residents to enjoy this opportunity to celebrate our national holiday and have fun running the streets of their community.

Summer Concerts
Details for a Summer Concerts series are still being determined that will allow residents to safely enjoy live music while being compliant with state and county COVID-19 guidelines and constraints. At this time, LARCS has secured the following three bands for a series beginning July 23.

July 23:       Queen Nation
July 30:       Betamaxx (80’s)
August 13:  Kenny Metcalf as Elton John

LARCS will provide additional information in the weeks ahead about the Summer Concerts as details are finalized.

Fall Celebration to include FireworkS Show

LARCS’s fireworks vendor contract had to be signed several months in advance of July 4th; before the status of the state and county re-opening was known. Because of this uncertainty, LARCS Board of Directors decided to postpone a fireworks show to fall 2021. Although a fireworks show may have been possible, capacity would have been extremely restricted and would not have resembled an experience that our residents expect or deserve. Many other Orange County cities have reached similar decisions.

The LARCS Board of Directors, Event Planning Committee and staff are working diligently to plan a celebration for later in the year that all our residents can enjoy. This bigger and better celebration will include an expanded fireworks show, live music and food trucks. More information about the fall event will be posted on over the next few months and in Ladera Happenings.

Ladera Ranch residents with a LaderaLife account may visit and for the most current updates from Ladera Ranch Community Services.
