Ladera Weathers the Rain for 80s Fun

Ladera's 80s Night Out event draws residents despite the rain. The evening was filled with fun, cocktails, and dancing to live entertainment.

On Saturday, February 25, Oak Knoll Village Clubhouse was home to an 80s Night Out. The LARCS event drew residents who weathered the rain to party to the sounds and sights of the nineteen-eighties.

LARCS delivered some big fun while over 140 attendees brought the big hair, big splashes of florescent color, and big 80s fashion that included pop collars, lace, leotards, and tutus. There was an impressive cross-section of leather, flair, and larger-than-life personalities - Boy George and Cher look-alikes.

Pulp Vixen played the sounds and beats from what many claim to be the best decade ever - and kept everyone on the dance floor.

Attendees enjoyed the Cyndi Lauper specialty cocktail that included a delicious mixture of cranberry juice, vodka, and peach schnapps.

Joanne Kopeny, LARCS Event Manager, said, "80s-era board games were at each table so attendees could play throughout the evening. There was a moonwalking contest, and the winners were awarded a massage gift card from our community partner, Ladera Family & Sports Chiropractic.

Ladera resident, Michelle V. said, "We had a great time at the 80s event! It was very well done! The band was amazing and did a lot of audience participation with some dance routines and contests, which made it even more fun."

On behalf of the LARCS Event Planning Committee and LARCS Board of Directors, thank you to everyone who attended.
