Open Play is a flexible and convenient style for players to enjoy the sport without needing to make a reservation.

How It Works

  • A reservation is not required. Players can show up and play, subject to open play queue and court availability.
  • Courts #1 and #2 are for advanced, Courts #3 and #4 are for intermediate, and Courts #5 and #6 are for beginners.
  • Players place a paddle on the paddle holder to hold a place in line. Players must be present to participate.
  • When courts are full, waiting players may place paddles next to the net of a game in play. When the game is over, players will relinquish the court to those waiting as follows:
    • 4 paddles down: all players leave to those waiting.
    • 2 paddles down: the winning team may stay on, or the waiting players may choose to play singles.
    • Winners may stay on no longer than 2 games in a row.
  • All players in the queue must be present to claim court time.
  • Open-court play relies on good sportsmanship and following the Ladera Ranch Code of Conduct. Players are expected to complete their games in a timely manner and respect the turns of waiting players.
  • There is no instruction, and non-Ladera residents are not allowed during Open Play.

Court Reservations
Residents can make one court reservation per day, up to one week in advance (seven 24-hour periods before the start time of the desired reservation date/time). (See Community Guidelines Section C, item #4). For example, to make a reservation on Friday, February 14, at 5:00 p.m., the earliest you could make that reservation is Friday, February 7, at 5:00 p.m., exactly one week in advance.

No-Show Policy
The reservation shall be relinquished to other "walk-on" residents if the reservation is not claimed within 10 minutes of the reserved time. At that time, the resident who initially made the reservation will be considered a "no-show." (See Community Guidelines Section C,#4, item x).

Cancellations
If you are unable to make it to your reserved court time, you must cancel your reservation via your LaderaLife account, no later than 4 hours before the reservation start time. Those who no-show for scheduled reservations or cancel within 4 hours of the reservation risk losing their reservation privileges. If you cancel a reservation, you must wait 3 hours before you may make another reservation.
