COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP (VIDEO CONTEST) DUE MAY 18
Santa Margarita Water District is again hosting its video contest for the Jim Mizell Memorial Water and Environmental Scholarship, designed for college-bound students who live in the SMWD service area. The Jim Mizell Water and Environmental Scholarship Program will provide up to two successful graduating high school students with $2,500 scholarships to their community or four-year college of choice.
The winning videos will be used as District public service announcements and as educational outreach materials throughout Orange County.
2018 Theme: The True Value of Water
Focus on one or more of the following subthemes:
1) What water means to people and their community
2) The impact a lack of water would have on a family or community
3)The importance of ensuring a community’s water infrastructure

MAY IS WATER AWARENESS MONTH: SMWD HOSTS A FREE COMMUNITY EVENT

May is Water Awareness Month and Santa Margarita Water District is celebrating with its annual, family-friendly Water Festival on May 19.
Everyone will enjoy a fun-filled day and gain a better understanding of what we do every day to deliver safe, clean water to our customers. There will be information on innovative projects the District is undertaking to ensure our water supply and reliability, water-efficient landscaping, and other ideas for a water-wise lifestyle.
The District will also offer tours of one of its major facilities to give customers a close-up look at where our water comes from and how we’re working to make sure—every day--water is there when you want it and there when you need it.
Other activities include: leak detection displays, native plant exhibits, vintage firetruck rides, reptiles, face painting, free food, and much more!

NEW CUSTOMER WEB PORTAL COMING LATE MAY 2018
Santa Margarita Water District customers will soon have a new and improved secure portal and payment system with easy-to-use options and 24/7 access to:
- Monthly bills
- Water use history
- Go paperless
- Setup AutoPay
Starting in late May 2018, customers will update their password to access the new portal and ensure account security. If you are currently enrolled in AutoPay, no action is required to continue your convenient payment option.
It's secure, fast, convenient with more options than before.
