After a two-year hiatus, Ladera’s annual community-wide garage sale and one-day recycling event returned for a strong comeback.
Ladera’s annual Community-wide Garage Sale and one-day recycling event Go Green made a comeback after a two-year hiatus. The March 26 event was organized by Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS).
The garage sale had over 400 homes that registered through LaderaLife.com. Residents who registered to participate in the garage sale received a box of donuts and directional signs to help deal-seekers find participating homes from Ladera-based realtors assigned to their garage sale zone.
Go Green Ladera was held at the Ladera Ranch Elementary/Middle School parking lots where residents could shred confidential documents; Goodwill collected household items, clothing, and electronic waste, and Waste Management collected light bulbs, and batteries.
Goodwill of Orange County reported that they received donations from 895 residents who gave 81,573 lbs. of donations. They also collected 11,186 lbs. of electronic waste. Finally, over 8,500 lbs. of documents were shredded during the 5-hour recycling event. Additionally, the Friends of the Library collected 3,000 books and LARCS collected Care Package items for the 1ST LAR Marine Battalion which is based in Camp Pendleton; care packages included toiletries, packaged food and toys for children of the Marines. A special thank you goes out to the PAL Program at Ladera Ranch Middle School, that collected over half of the items donated to the Marines.
LARCS would like to thank everyone who participated in Garage Sale, who generously donated items and recycled. A special thank you goes out to our resident volunteers who worked, committee and Board members as well as members of the Teen Leadership Council.
Next year’s Community Garage Sale & Go Green Ladera event is scheduled for April 22, 2023.
