The Resident Farmer Program is for those looking to learn new skills, connect with neighbors, or simply enjoy time outdoors at the Heritage Farm.
The inaugural season runs from August 2026 through February 2027. Each season thereafter will be
- September - February
- March – August
Participation requires only a minimum commitment of 2 volunteer hours per month, with opportunities to participate as often as you'd like throughout the season.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- Farm shifts offered throughout the week, including most Saturdays
- Fresh harvests shared at the end of each farming shift
- Hands-on experience growing food in a collaborative community farm environment
- Instruction and guidance from professional farmers
- Opportunities to learn gardening skills such as planting, pruning, composting, propagation, irrigation, and seasonal garden care
- Family-friendly participation for all ages and experience levels
- Seasonal gatherings, workshops, potlucks, and special events
- Access to unique farm experiences, including seasonal U-Picks
- The opportunity to help establish traditions and shape the future of the Ladera Ranch Heritage Farm
HOW IT WORKS
After registering for the Resident Farmer Program, you will be provided with an account through VolunteerMark, our volunteer management platform.
VolunteerMark is where you will:
- View available farm shifts
- Register for volunteer opportunities
- Track your participation hours
- Receive updates and communications about farm activities and events
This flexible system allows you to choose shifts that fit your schedule while meeting the program's minimum participation requirement.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Whether you're an experienced gardener or have never planted a seed, there's a place for you at the farm. We welcome residents of all ages, interests, abilities, and experience levels. Our team will provide guidance and help match you with tasks that fit your comfort level and interests.
