Cocktails and Comedy Event Leaves Attendees in High Spirits

If laughter is the best medicine, Ladera Ranch residents who attended this weekend's Cocktails and Comedy event have a clean bill of health.

The sold-out LARCS event was a big hit, with over 130 attendees who enjoyed an evening of Improv-style appetizers and a dinner buffet that included pizza, tacos, nachos, mini corn dogs, tater tots, drinks, and entertainment. Seven attendees signed up to compete in the Dad Joke competition, and Mark Schumacher kept residents in stitches during his 45-minute comedy show.

Schumacher, the high school teacher turned comedian, delivered hilarious jokes about his time in the classroom, antidotes about mid-life as a married forty-something, and several humor-based jabs, all meant in good fun. Schumacher's joke about Rancho Misson Viejo residents referring to Ladera Ranch as "Ladera Woods" garnered more than a few groans. Still, the audience recovered, and many said what an awesome evening of fun it had been.

Alison Duff, a member of the LARCS Event Planning Committee that helped organize the event, said, "It's always fun to see residents enjoy the events whether they are our 21+ adults events like Cocktails and Comedy, events for teens, or family events such as the upcoming Spring Celebration or Paws in the Park."
