In 2017, Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) adopted 1ST Light Armored Reconnaissance (1ST LAR Battalion), a Marine Battalion from Camp Pendleton. 1ST LAR was activated in May 1985 and is a fast and mobilized armored terrestrial reconnaissance battalion of the United States Marine Corps. nicknamed the “Highlanders.”
LARCS works with residents and community partners year round to host collection drives and give much needed items to the brave men and women serving our country.
Collection Drives
Care Packages
Items needed are snacks, including individual bagged chips, salsa, nuts, cookies, beef jerky, non-melting candy and trail mix in packaging that isn’t easily crushed. Drink mixes in single-serving packets are also a good addition.
Necessities, such as lip balm and shaving cream. Please don't send aerosols or pressurized products. Encouragement, residents can include a personal note thanking our servicemen and women for their bravery and service to our country.
Newlywed Shower
New or gently used household items, such as small appliances, dishes, utensils and/or pot and pans.
Baby Shower
Diapers, shampoo, lotion, wipes, new clothes, towels, hats, blankets, pacifiers and nursery furniture. Rec Room Games/Furniture Gently used pool table, foosball, ping pong, darts and/or dorm-size furniture.
