Ladera Ranch is Growing Up

Update from the Ladera Ranch Civic Council by Joe Brenneman, Chair

As Ladera leaves its teen years as a community and enters a mature phase, it’s a good time to reflect on how we much we’ve learned and who we are going to be when we ‘grow up’! As we move into our 20’s, there is much to be done and there are plenty of big decisions that lie ahead for us as a community. The Ladera Ranch Civic Council has been hard at work this past year to ensure our continued success and to prepare Ladera for a bright future.

The Civic Council represents the interest of Ladera residents and serves as a liaison between our community and the Orange County governing boards. As a result, we spend considerable time in meetings and conversations with our elected representatives and their staff to ensure that Ladera Ranch is not forgotten when considering items that affect our residents. We also stay connected to Capistrano Unified School District through board meetings, roundtable discussions and meetings with the Superintendent.

Traffic and public safety are areas of high concern and we have made great strides in the past year to improve the quality of our roads, enhance signage and ensure safety. To that end, the Council partnered with the Ladera Rancho Chamber to launch the S.L.O.W. campaign to increase awareness and encourage residents to make a pledge to Stop, Look, Obey and Wave! Please visit our website to find our more and sign the pledge.

We continue to partner closely with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and CHP to monitor our safety and work with OC Public Works to make sure needed improvements are made.

There is so much more to share, but not nearly enough space. We also partner with LARMAC, LARCS, Rancho Mission Viejo, Westar and other organizations to help Ladera as we continue to grow up!

Won’t you join us? Please visit our website for more information. Better yet, come to one of our Public Meetings. We would welcome your input and involvement.
