- Ladera Ranch Has Seasons and Landscap...
We know—living in sunny Southern California can make it feel like everything should look the same year‑round. But in reality, seasons do exist here – they’re just a little more subtle (and occasionally confusing).
With a change in seasons, we also see a change in landscaping cycles. After a rainy stretch followed by warmer weather, the community's landscape shifts quickly. While that’s great for plants, it also means a big increase in maintenance activity—more like going from a light jog to a full sprint overnight for our landscaping crews.
Here’s what’s happening around the community:
Weeds Are Living Their Best Life
Rain combined with sunshine creates ideal growing conditions for weeds. They grow fast and tend to reappear quickly after being removed. Our crews are actively managing them, but after a wetter period, weeds can be persistent.
Leaves Are… Still Dropping?
Yes, even now. Because Southern California trees don’t always follow the same rules as the rest of the country. Seasonal transitions (and certain tree species) mean leaf drop can continue well into spring.
Weekly Mowing (and Yes, There’s Blowing Too)
Grass is growing quickly, so mowing is performed once a week to keep turf areas neat and consistent.
During mowing, crews also blow off grass clippings left behind by mulching mowers and edging. In the process, recently fallen leaves may get moved around as well. If you notice leaves shifting locations instead of disappearing, that’s part of the routine cleanup process.
Quarterly Maintenance
More detailed work—trimming, shaping, and heavier leaf cleanup—takes place during quarterly maintenance visits. This is when crews address buildup and give the landscape a more thorough refresh. To review the quarterly maintenance schedule for your area, visit the Landscape page on Laderalife.com.
The Bottom Line
This time of year brings rapid growth and constant change across the landscape. Things can look different from one week to the next—and sometimes even overnight. We appreciate your patience as our crews work hard to keep Ladera Ranch looking its best, even when weeds win a few small battles and leaves keep things interesting.
As a reminder, you can always submit a maintenance request on Laderalife.com or send us an email at contact.larmac@laderalife.com.
