On Saturday, October 21, residents enjoyed an autumn adventure known as Harvest Festival! The warm afternoon held a gentle breeze that blew across the freshly renovated Founders Park. Friends and neighbors laughed and enjoyed each other's company as they visited the activity booths hosted by community groups and recreation programmers, strolled through the handmade craft fair, and took photos at various photo-op areas adorned with fall décor.
Sam, a new resident, raved about the food by Tabay's Mindful Kitchen, which combined delicious cuisine with friendly service and a personal touch. Tabay Atkins is a former Ladera Ranch resident who went into business with his mother. Sam thought the handwritten note inside the lid of each order was a nice touch. Other food trucks that were present were Kabobaholic, Xclusive, HyperHouse, and Rio Soft Serve Ice Cream!
The live entertainment included the sounds of Kalyn and the New Frontier, line dancing with Lauren (who will be offering line dance lessons starting in January), and a flash mob dance performance.
Children's activities included inflatables, a giant slide, carnival games, a rock wall, a hi-striker, an inflatable obstacle course, sports games, miniature golf, lawn games, crafts, airbrush artists, face painters, and balloon artists.
The Beer Garden by Selma's Chicago Pizzeria & Tap Room was a popular spot to relax and enjoy a drink with friends.
The annual Costume Contest was a great deal of fun. There were three categories - two for children and one for groups. There were three winners for each category; winners received trophies and gift cards to Dave & Busters, Baskin Robins, or pizza, courtesy of Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS).
LARCS would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy the Harvest Festival. It also gives a special thanks to the teen and adult resident volunteers who helped set up the event, worked the ticket booth, and served as costume contest organizers and judges.
