On Saturday, November 4 Ladera Ranch residents came together to celebrate Ladera Pride at a community celebration that included live music, festival-style games, and support of residents who identify with the LGBTQ community.
The celebration was hosted by Ladera Pride, an official Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) club. The event was attended by Ladera Ranch residents, who were pleased to see an inclusive event occur in their hometown. One long-term resident said, “I’ve lived in Ladera for 17 years, and it makes me so happy to help host this celebration here. It means so much.” Another couple who had walked to Town Green for the event with their dog said, “Thank you (to the organizers) for making this event possible.”
Booths included family activities, crafts, and refreshments, including Lali Contractor, M.D., Integrative Psychiatrist, and other community businesses and organizations. Wellness and Prevention Center, a south Orange County non-profit providing mental health services, provided operational support and funds for the event. The Laguna Playhouse, which had a booth, was also an event sponsor.
The event was a heartwarming celebration of diversity that promoted neighborly unity and encouragement among residents.
David said, “I hadn’t planned to attend the event, but I’m glad that I came. There are neighbors who have lived in Ladera for many years, who today, have more of a sense of connection than ever before. We are neighbors who share the common values of love, belonging, and community. Today is more than a 2-hour gathering – the ripple effect of inclusion, diversity, and caring for our neighbors has a positive impact toward building our bond as a community.”
The event concluded with a celebratory parade through Town Green where residents could feel the sense of joy, and pride in being individuals, unified by a sense of community.
