Miracle on Mercantile Way was a wonderful start to the holiday season in Ladera Ranch. The event had it all - from games to activities, snowball fights to hot chocolate, and of course, photos with Santa.
On Saturday, December 3, Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS) hosted Miracle on Mercantile Way at Town Green.
The afternoon event was a big hit with families who enjoyed carnival-style games, large lawn games, winter-themed inflatables, and photo opportunities with live characters, including the Grinch and wonderland princess. According to several children, “the snowball fight with The Grinch was the best!” The Girl Scouts, YMCA Adventure Guides, Evolution Swim Academy, Skyhawks Sports, and the LARCS Teen Leadership Council hosted craft stations. Complimentary hot chocolate and popcorn were provided, which added fun to the festivities.
Families took photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and received a candy cane from Santa’s helpers, comprised of LARCS Board members and other resident volunteers.
The three-hour event grew quickly in attendance and was very well attended. Attendees were encouraged to donate unwrapped toys during the onsite Toy Drive, benefitting the families of our adopted Marine Battalion at Camp Pendleton, 1ST LAR.
At the conclusion of the Miracle on Mercantile Way event, Santa and Mrs. Claus led the countdown to light the holiday tree that illuminated the park, and families danced to Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You” and other fun holiday classic songs.
LARCS president Greg Sink said, “Thank you to everyone who attended the event. It was heart-warming to see the smiles, hear the laughter, and feel the holiday spirit from hundreds of families enjoying the start of the holiday season. And, thank you to those who have donated toys and much-needed items to our Marines (1ST LAR). The families very much appreciate your generosity.”
