Nothing could damper the spirit of fun and excitement that children and their families experienced at the Spring Celebration event held at Founders Park.
The four-hour family event, held on Saturday, March 23, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., was hosted by Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS), which organizes events for residents.
The Spring Celebration featured egg scrambles, activities, carnival-style games, fun make-it-take-it crafts, an exclusive photo opportunity with Peter and Mrs. Rabbit, laser tag, rock wall climbing, a giant slide, and others.
Joanne Kopeny, LARCS Event Manager, said the event was a success. "Residents weathered the rain and were in good spirits. Many seemed to enjoy the unique opportunity to don rain boots, umbrellas, and other winter fashion in spring."
The heavy rain did not deter the children from participating in the Egg Scrambles throughout the day. Bright smiles and brightly colored rain boots and raincoats popped against the gray-colored sky. "Spirits were high, and there was a lot of energy at the Egg Scrambles for the 4 to 12-year-olds. Meanwhile, over at the Tykes and Toddlers scrambles, things were a little more relaxed for the 0-3-year-old groups," said Judy Young, who organized the scrambles.
Ashley Blair, LARCS Lifestyle Manager, thanks the many volunteers, including our event committee and Board members, who made the event possible. A special thanks goes out to those who worked in the rain for almost the entire time. Thank you to our residents who were patient and considerate of others and made the experience wonderful for the children and other families who attended.
The rain eventually subsided, and the sun came out, providing warmth at approximately 2:30 p.m. It was a perfect time to stroll to the food trucks to order delicious food and treats from Family Pizza, Messi Burger, Xclusive, Rio, and Kona Ice.
