Pest Control: Invasive Shot Hole Borer Tree Survey and Treatment

LARMAC is working with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) to address trees in Ladera Ranch that are infested with Invasive Shot Hole Borer (ISHB).

As part of a grant program with Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) to address trees infested with Invasive Shot Hole Borer (ISHB), UC Cooperative Extension has started surveying LARMAC Sycamore trees at Cox Sports Park and along the Sienna Botanica. The survey is aimed at identifying those trees that are infested with ISHB and either treat or remove those that are highly infested.

LARMAC has final say as to whether a tree will be treated or removed. The grant will cover all associated costs related to treatment, removal and even replacement. Surveying of the trees will continue throughout the community as they move through in phases. As the tree surveying progresses, there may be an opportunity to include homeowner street trees and sub-association trees with LARMAC staff acting as they conduit/point of contact. Additional details will be shared as they come available.

Once the trees at Cox Sports Park and Sienna Botanica have been surveyed, the UC Cooperative Extension team will move into other areas of the community, which also contain numerous Sycamore trees.
